Voice Recognition

October 3rd, 2008

Yesterday I was introduced to the voice recognition program in my computer.  McKay Whitney was emailing Joy and explaining about some different programs he likes to use, and I was so curious and excited about it.  I immediately went to the history of my grandmother, Doris E. Nay Whitney, and started dictating.  The computer wrote down what I said!! And here it is, less than 24 hours later, posted by Jake.  I know we live in the day of miracles, and I am so grateful for that.  I can rest a little easier now, having a history or two on this website, and it was transcribed in about 1/3 of the time it takes to word process it.

There is all kinds of voice recognition, and I have felt the promptings of our ancestors–they are waiting in line to be heard!  If we clear our hearts, we can feel and hear them, and we recognize their voices.  It’s a sweet experience.

What an exciting time to live–and how blessed we are to have intelligent people to help us do what we dream of doing–like setting up a family website!  The first time I looked at the picture of Grandma and Grandpa, a couple of things happened. One, I wanted to jump in like the chalk pictures on Mary Poppins.  I love these people, and they have been a powerful force in my life.  Now, their stories can be heard (or read) by many, and preserved for many others.  Second, I had a strong feeling of gratitude wash over me from them!  I felt their love and appreciation for the work we have done and will do to keep their memory alive, and all the things that go along with that.  I feel blessed to be a part of this living and breathing work.

Proud to be involved

As with the Christensen family history website, I’m honored to be included in the creation and development of this site. It is a privilege to be able to help make the results of my family’s hard genealogy work and research, available in new medium. As always, please feel free to give feedback while we work to develop this site, so that it is useful to all interested parties.
