Applesauce Cake
1 c. sugar
½ shortening
2 eggs
1 ½  c. applesauce
1 c. walnuts
1 small bottle maraschino cherries
2 c. flour
2 t. baking  powder
½ t. soda
½ t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
½ t. cloves
1 t. vanilla

Cream sugar, shortening & eggs. Add nuts, applesauce and cherries.  Add dry ingredients sifted together. Add vanilla. Bake 45 min. in 350° oven.

Cream Pie Filling
¾ c. can milk
1 ¼ c. water
Heat slowly.
Then mix together: ½ c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1 pinch salt
2 eggs
Add mixture slowly to milk.  Stir constantly and bring to a boil. Pour into cooked and cooled pie crust.

Pie Crust
Blend together:
2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 C. shortening
Add ½ c. cold water and mix.
Roll out and place in pie pan. Bake in hot oven until lightly browned.
